Our Terms and Conditions of Business

Our terms of business are straightforward but experience has shown that basic terms and conditions help both parties in a contract for tuition services. When you book a workshop or series of workshops, you agree to the following:

BrightLife Learning’s service obligations to you and to your young person(s):

  1. Workshops will begin on an agreed date and time and will continue, as specified in the joining instructions sent to you on confirmation of acceptance on the course. We will only postpone a date in the event of an illness or accident that would affect course delivery.

  2. Workshops will normally be delivered in small groups of up to eight participants and on a face-to-face basis.

  3. Our professional education workshops (for example our CIM courses) will not be restricted to 6-8 persons, although we keep class sizes down to not more than 16 participants..

  4. Workshops will be delivered at the location / venue specified and confirmed in the confirmation of acceptance on the course.

  5. In the unlikely event of non-availability of a venue for reasons beyond our control, we will use our best endeavours to provide a suitable and close alternative.

  6. We will deliver the workshop(s) to a high professional standard and on an inclusive basis. Our small group size allows for us to provide individual attention.

  7. We will provide a safe, caring and secure environment and encourage full participation, collaboration and discussion.

  8. We will provide necessary course materials, workbooks and handouts as appropriate to the programme.

  9. We will start and end sessions promptly.

  10. We will operate within health, safety, privacy and safeguarding policies at all times.

  11. We will maintain a valid third party / public liability insurance to cover our scope of operations.

  12. In the event that your young person falls ill during a session, we will contact you immediately.

Your commitment in return for the above:

  1. You will ensure that your young person(s) attend promptly and that they are collected on time after the session.

  2. You will notify us at least 24 hours before the session if the young person is going to be absent. Naturally, if they are ill, we would just expect to be notified as soon as possible.

  3. You will arrange for your young person to arrive not earlier than 15 minutes prior to the session and be collected not later than 10 minutes after the session ends.*

  4. You will do your best to extend the learning experience between sessions and especially where we provide you with guidance information to help you to do so. This is very important for most of our workshop programmes.

*Under no circumstances can the course tutor or another member of our staff provide transportation home as this would violate our safeguarding policy. In the event that the arranged transportation home is going to be delayed, please notify the tutor directly via the contact information provided to you. We reserve the right to charge for delays if the waiting time exceeds 15 minutes.

Payment

Workshops must be paid for in full at time of booking. Early booking is highly recommended as we restrict participant numbers (see above).

We accept cash or payment via bank transfer. We will provide you with a receipt once payment is received.

Cancellation

You may cancel your booking for the workshop/workshop series up to 14 days prior to commencement of the programme without penalty.

Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to commencement will incur a 25% cancellation fee.

Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to commencement will incur a 50% penalty.

We regret that we cannot refund for sessions missed / not attended.

We may have to cancel a workshop of workshop series in the event that we do not have sufficient bookings to be make the training viable. In this case we will provide you with a full refund.

Sitting in on a workshop session

We have no objection to this provided that room is available to make this possible at the venue - we understand that it may help your younger person settle in. Such an arrangement needs to be agreed prior to booking.

Persons sitting in MUST NOT contribute to the session(s) in any way, nor disrupt the proceedings. Our programmes run to a course design and lesson plan and we cannot deviate from this plan on an ad-hoc basis.

If you wish to participate as a visiting presenter, for example on our young entrepreneur workshops, we would be pleased to discuss this with you, well in advance.
